After executing the clerical cadre and probationary exam in due course, IBPS has declared a new CWE for selecting specialist officers in 19 Indian public sector banks. IBPS specialist officer exam is timed on March 11, 2012 and applications will be accepted online until January 21, 2012. Exactly nine specialist officer categories have been defined, and the eligibility criteria will be different for each section. Peruse more about the IBPS specialist officers exam after the break.
Update: Online registration for IBPS Specialist Exam 2018-2019 would start in first week of November.

Specialist officer post is intended for people who are proficient in their professional domain, and their talent will be used in related banking industry.

IBPS specialist officers exam 2012The banks participating in IBPS specialist CWE 2012 and different type of positions put forward are given above. Aspirants with a degree/PG/PGD in computers, law, agriculture sciences, management, electronics or MBA, MSW, BTech, BPharm or MA in Hindi/Sanskrit with English as elective in degree level can apply for respective sections in the IBPS specialist exam. The age of a scale-1 applicant should be in between 20-35 and for a scale-2 it can be 21-45 years, and the latter should have at least 1-3 years of experience. Cumulative age relaxation is available for backward classes and minorities with a maximum age limit of 50 years.

Similar to that in the case of other IBPS exams, a higher grade in specialist officers CWE will not assure you a top spot in upcoming vacancies in the 19 public sector banks. The participating institutions will obviously use IBPS score to pick the right candidates,  but then they will consider the experience, interview performance and qualifications of the applicant to make a final decision.

IBPS specialist exam pattern and syllabus:

The syllabus of this exam is almost similar to IBPS clerk and PO exam. However,  one section in specialist CWE will  test the professional competence of the applicant under a marking pattern shown below.
