Since launching their 5G network in India, Jio has offered their customers unlimited 5G services. Interestingly, Airtel has also jumped on the trend and is now providing their postpaid and prepaid customers with the option to activate Airtel 5G unlimited. However, there is a catch: customers must use the Airtel Thanks app to activate the unlimited service each time they recharge or enter a new billing cycle if they use a postpaid connection.
How to activate Airtel unlimited 5G plan?
Unlike Jio, Airtel customers don’t need to wait for the 5G welcome offer to access unmetered high-speed data on their devices. Those who have recharged with an unlimited prepaid plan above 239 on prepaid and are using Airtel Black or any Airtel postpaid plan can request for unlimited 5G activation.
This scheme is currently launched as a promotional offer without any word on how long it will be extended. However, as long as you have a 5G supported prepaid or postpaid plan, you can activate the Airtel unlimited 5G data plan on devices running the latest version of the Airtel Thanks App and iPhone or Android system software update.
- Download and sign-in to Airtel Thanks app for iPhone or Android.
Search in the Apple Store or Google Play Store for the latest version of the Airtel Thanks app, and then download and install the newest version. Once you install, sign in with your Airtel number.
- Scroll-down and find the “claim unlimited 5G data” banner.
On the Airtel Thanks app, scroll down a bit until you find a banner like as shown in the screenshot. It says, ” claim unlimited 5G data.” Now tap on the Red arrow.
- Claim and activate unlimited 5G data Airtel network.
Depending on your mobile tariff, you will an option to choose a preferred plan, and if eligible, “the unlimited 5G data” will be selected as shown below. Click on “Claim now” to activate it.
A request will be created immediately, and after the activation, you will get an SMS confirming the availability of unlimited 5G data on your Airtel number.
