Hyundai India sold approximately 35000 passenger cars in September 2011. Amid the concerns in Manesar plant, Maruti Suzuki retailed 65000 cars in the same period. When you asses the Maruti sales chart you can see that the most moving car segment for them is 800 cc, which includes Alto and legendary Maruti 800. Recently, they have upgraded Alto with Kseries engine and since then the model is selling like hot cakes. Hyundai is here in India from the last 15 years, but they didn’t have a solid performer in the 800 cc category. Then there is Santro, which is actually an 1000 cc car with outdated tall boy design. Oh wait, something big is coming your way.
